Assessing the Place of AI in the Human Workplace

By: Nick Galov

For years, pop culture has painted AI as an autonomous technology that is built to help mankind but often ends up hurting it instead. As modern technology continues to steer closer towards realizing AI’s full potential, there are people who are afraid that it will eventually lead to harm and not good. However, based on what we’re seeing currently, AI is here to guide us towards a better future.

AI is being used mostly by companies from various industries such as healthcare, entertainment media, retail, and virtually almost everywhere. It is being used to provide efficiency, better consumer experience, and a new avenue for growth. That isn’t to say that there aren’t any concerns regarding its future as well.

As AI continues to achieve better milestones and break more limits, people are concerned that one day, it will eventually replace the human workforce. While the idea of an entire office being powered by an AI workforce sounds possible, it is the last thing that CEOs and company heads want. Regardless of how great AI technology becomes, it will never replace the value and worth of human empathy and decision-making.

AI without a doubt is faster than any human when it comes to data processing and calculation. However, when it comes to understanding the human psyche and consequences, a single human worker will forever do what even the most advanced AI can’t.

That being said, AI isn’t a threat to jobs that we enjoy, they are instead, a companion that could make our day-to-day operations run smoother. It will eventually make our lives better as AI will do most of our work for us and all we need to do is supplement what it can’t bring to the table.

As Bill Gates said before “well, certainly we can look forward to the idea that vacations will be longer at some point.

AI is continuously evolving. As the drive towards AI-integration becomes stronger, we can expect developers and other specialists to enhance what AI could be capable of. While that AI-centric future waits, let’s take a look at how far AI has come through these statistics.
